I just made some and it's delicious. Not quite sweet enough for my kids, though. That's probably because I used bittersweet (65%) chips. I added some agave, but I think it could also work with soaked dates, which I would prefer to use next time.

Hi DK! The tofu chocolate pudding recipe is a master piece! My family loves it! I have made it for my guests - they loved it! I work with diabetic patients, especially pregnant women - they are all uniformly dessert starved. I gave out the recipe to some of my patients - they love it too! I just substitute with bitter-sweet chocolate, and have them top it up with roasted nuts and fresh fruit - and that's a great snack for any diabetic!Keep up the great work! I've enjoyed making the dal makhani and the badam kheer too - they turned out just great :) Looking forward to more fun vegetarian recipes.
I am so glad to hear that. Thank you :) --DK

[...] For the silken tofu, I had a more creative plan! Because I don’t eat tofu very often, I didn’t want to over do it when adding it into my meals. I had heard of using tofu to make chocolate mousse/pudding before, so I decided to give that a shot! I modified this recipe here. [...]

 I made a few adjustments to this recipe and it turned out to be org*smic. The base recipe is great - and perfect for any number of adjustments. I had 100% cocoa in the house so wanted to add quite a lot of sweetness to compensate for the bitterness. I took the advice of others and added 3 dates (dried but softened in boiling water) and 4 soft dried prunes. Then I could remembered the two overripe bananas I didn't know what to do with. I used the comment recommendation of one part chocolate to two parts tofu and that plus the sweet dried fruits and banana have made a dessert to die for - not too sweet with great flavour combo of dark chocolate and fruit. It also ticks a lot of boxes for me as a pregnant veggie lady who is craving sweets but not wanting to eat too much sugar and constantly trying to find yummy ways to get more protein in her diet. And with the recommendation to microwave the chocolate (which i did on low power for longer) it is too easy to not make! This is going in my regular recipes file. Simply awesome.

Good recipe. But just microwave your chocolate, about two minutes and a half. Chocolate needs about 8oz for every 16oz of TOFU. I finised the tofu and chocolate, and the clean up and had a bowl of tofu chocolate pudding in less than 45 minutes, but I microwaved the chocolate until it melted. Took about 2:30 minutes

 What a surprise! As a former tofu hater myself, I had no positive expectations for this recipe. I ate one full serving without a pause. I'm calling my 'adaptation' "Tootsie Roll Pudding". I used dark choc., chips, dutch cocoa, and a little orange flavoring with a little orange zest on top. It's a winner.

8-O I've found if you add two tablespoons of Dutch processed cocoa and two to three tablespoons of honey or Blue Agave syrup, the result is comparable to luscious fudge pie. Put it in a your favorite pastry shell and you have an incredibly rich dessert.

Tropical Source chocolate chips should taste twice as good. They are twice as expensive.
By 明輝子 (Akiko) on Aug 13, 2012
I know some people have said it's "impossible" or "difficult" to find vegan chocolate chips. This is so NOT true. Tropical Source has been making vegan chocolate chips forever. They're also gluten-free and fair trade. You just won't typically find them in a conventional grocery store, though you can always request the manager to carry them. All they can tell you is no, so what is the harm in asking. But, until then, go to any organic store, or store that offers a lot for vegans and you should find them. You can even order them on the internet. Most of all, they taste amazing and better than Ghiradelli's both in texture and taste. I find Ghiradelli's dark chocolate to be bitter, where as Sunspire's Tropical Source, you can eat them right out of the bag and find pure ecstasy.. lol! Here is a link to some on Amazon.. they sell fast.http://www.amazon.com/Chocolate-Chips-Semi-Sweet-Dairy-Gluten/dp/B0000SZ7RS/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1344870974&sr=1-1&keywords=Tropical+Source+Semi-Sweet+Chocolate+ChipsFor Ryan Mesler.. "How it all Vegan" contains a recipe for chocolate pudding that uses cocoa powder.. it's very good. It's sugar content is a bit high, but who eats pudding everyday? (─‿‿─)
By Johnny Punx on Aug 10, 2012
:!:  awesome recipe!! I gotta try it. To those worried about vegan chips, as am i, whole.foods brand 365 sells officially marked Vegan chocolate chips! Ive used them for cookies, muffins. They dont taste waxy, and they use cocoa butter and ground vanilla beans, theyre amazing!
By Nark on Aug 8, 2012
I am anxious to try this - are you ever able to get some nutritional values with these recipes??? like protein - carbs - sugars - fats - calories??
By Nicole Shelby on Jul 24, 2012
Ghiradelli's semi-sweet chocolate chips ARE vegan. Lots of dark chocolate ones are too.
By Ryan mesler on Jun 28, 2012
Not to be a downer but regular chocolate chips are not vegan. Most of them contain milk. It's actually pretty hard for me to to find pure cocoa chips. Easiest solution for me is to use Hershey cocoa powder. Could you recommend a modification of this recipe using that ingredient?
Oh thanks for the reminder Ryan. I came to know of that a while ago, but forgot to update here. Will add a note about this. Given that I havent tried it yet with cocoa powder, I am unable to give details regarding that. If I try using that, I will def. update that info here. --DK
