RuPaul's Drag Race: Symone's Best Runway Looks, Ranked (2024)

Don't let the smooth taste fool you! Season 13 winner Symone entered the workroom with that simple statement, warning you not to let her sweet, southern demeanor make you think she's not a competitor for the crown. Each and every week in the competition proved these were not empty words.

A few missteps aside, Symone breezed through this competition to ultimately snatch the crown, in no small part due to her runway looks. Symone is already regarded by fansand the judges as one of the franchise's most notable fashion queens, and with looks like these, it's easy to see why.

Yellow, Gorgeous

Some queens interpreted this theme in unexpected, campy ways, while Symone walked down the runway in yellow overalls, boots, and an oversized fur coat. Her hair and make-up looked predictablybeautiful and she gave her signature, ever-confident walk down the runway. But it paled in comparison to some of the other looks this episode, which is why it is at the bottom of this list. Combined with her dance performance in the Ru-sical, Symone found herself in the bottom two this episode. For a queen who always tells a story on the runway, this one didn't say much.

Beast Couture

For this category, Symone wore a hilarious and campy cartoon fox bodysuit. The short-shorts, tank top, belt buckle, and hoop earrings all help sell the story of "Foxy." Symone prides herself on being unapologetically Black, and she was able to apply that to this category effortlessly. What kept this look from being ranked higher is the make-up. Symone looks great, but if she had done more animalistic make-up, it would have been even better. It looks like Symone in a fox suit, instead of a whole new character.

Little Black Dress

Wearing a dress made entirely of Senegalese twists, Symone wowed the judges with this look. The self-proclaimed Ebony Enchantress lived up to her title here, mixing Black history and aesthetics with fun fashion. The dress itself is expertly crafted using braiding hair and cuts a striking silhouette. The hair is a nod to the RuPaul music video "Back To My Roots," and compliments the dark dress nicely. This look proves what Symone says in her voiceover is true: "Black hair is a revolution."

Nice Girls Roast

This episode didn't have a runway theme, instead, the queens were critiqued on the outfits they wore for this main challenge. Although she bombed the roast, Symone looked absolutely radiant in this gold dress with a matching scarf and opera gloves. Paired with auburn hair, Symone was a vision of old Hollywood glamour.

The look paid off when she later had to lip-sync for her life to Ariana Grande's"No Tears Left to Cry." Controlled, poised, and emotional, Symone sold the lyrics of the song, and the dress looked like glimmering liquid gold as she did.

Drag Excellence

For the final runway before heading to the grand finale, the category was for the queens to showcase their best drag and what makes their point of view unique. Symone wore an eye-popping purple gown with huge billowing sleeves. When she walked, the fabric magically caught the light. True to Symone form, her hair was done in cornrows as a nod to Black culture but added rows of crystal between each one giving the look of a crown, foreshadowing the one she'd ultimately win at the finale.

Finale Eleganza

For the grand finale, Symone emerged looking like a mythological, comic book fever dream. One-part Thanos, one-part Medusa, one-part Aphrodite, there are lots of ideas going on in this looks but it remains streamlined and focused. She also makes a nod to her Black culture, with the Medusa-like snakes on her head being made out of dreadlocks. This is an aesthetic that viewers had yet to see on Symone, so when she came around the corner there was no denying this was a showstopper.

Fascinating Fascinators

Symone looked angelic in this understated, all-white look on the runway. But when she turned around,it gained a whole new meaning. Showing two bullet holes on the dress and the message "Say Their Names" on the back of the fascinator, Symone used this opportunity to advocate for an end to racial violence and police brutality.

With her hands in the air, she gracefully walked to the back of the stage, letting the message and her movements speak for themselves. Both a breathtaking moment and a reminder that work must be done and change needs to happen.

Bead It

For the bead-themed runway, Symone wore a fusion of African and African American aesthetics and created a jaw-dropping moment. The colors and patterning of the outfit immediately remind the viewer of traditional African fabrics and textures, and the fringe details make for great movement on the runway. When she turns around, her name is spelled out on beads all throughout her braided hair. This look is perfectly executed and shows Symone's passion for her culture.

Lamé, You Stay

For the first official runway of season 13, Symone proved right out of the gate that she was a force to be reckoned with. Her boxing-inspired look for this category was equal parts athletic, fashion, and drag. Everything from the custom embroidery, knee-high boots, the cut on her forehead, to the ridiculously long boxing braids showed Symone pays attention to details, which is key when competing on this show. She sold the look down the runway with verve and swagger, prompting RuPaul herself to tell her she's a star.

Trains for Days

For this runway, Symone did what she does best. She took the category and interpreted it in her unique way. Wearing all teal and pink, Symone expertly matched a bulky jumpsuit and form-fitting corset both beautifully made and embroidered. But the showstopper is the durag that becomes her train, going from the top of her head, down to the floor, and a few feet behind her. Taking her pride in Black culture and a campy drag sensibility, Symone effortlessly blended fashion, fun, and social commentary as only Symone can do.
