Las Vegas Airport is a hub for the airline company of Great Lakes Airlines, and is one of the largest airports in the United States of America. The international airport of Las Vegas is otherwise known as the McCarran International Airport, and by the airport code of LAS. It is located approximately 5 miles, or 8km from the central business district of Las Vegas, and in the area of Paradise, Clarke County. Las Vegas is a city in the state of Nevada, which is to the northeast of California, to the northwest of Arizona and to the west of Utah. The states of Idaho and Oregon are found to the north of Nevada. The city of Las Vegas can be described as to the northeast of Los Angeles, to the northwest of Phoenix, to the southwest of Salt Lake City and to the southeast of Reno. Nearby areas include Henderson, Bullhead City, Moapa Town, Indian Springs, Sandy Valley and the Lake Mead National Recreational Area. To the east of the city is the Lake Las Vegas and Las Vegas Bay. The McCarran Airport is very nearby to Paradise Valley, Winchester, Spring Valley and Enterprise.

Las Vegas Airport directions from the city centre of Las Vegas
Las Vegas Airport is to the south of downtown Las Vegas, and south of the famous Las Vegas Strip as well. From downtown and from areas north of the airport motorists will travel the I-15, or the Las Vegas Freeway, in a southerly direction. From North Las Vegas and Sunrise Manor the Freeway can be joined from a number of roads, including E. Craig Road, W. Lake Mead Boulevard, E. Lake Mead Boulevard and E. Washington Avenue. The airport is well signposted along the Interstate-15. Usually, motorists take the turn-off for Tropicana Avenue, and then turn right into Paradise Road. Turn-off for the airport terminals and parking areas on Wayne Newton Boulevard. Motorists could turn off the highway onto E. Flamingo Road as well, and then turn right onto Paradise Road.
Las Vegas Airport directions from the south and west of Las Vegas
The I-15 is used for airport access from the south as well, and from areas further south, such as Barstow and Halloran Springs in the state of California, and Roach and Goodsprings in Nevada. From Boulder City to the southeast of the airport, motorists will use the I-515 for a connection to the I-215, and then the I-15 to the airport turn-offs. Motorists could continue on the I-515 as well, and then turn-off onto Russell Road. Russell Road leads directly to the airport. This route leads past Henderson. A large road coming from the northeast of the city is the Oran K. Gragson Freeway, or the Veterans Memorial Highway 95. It runs south to Pittman and then east to the I-15 leading to the airport. The Summerlin Parkway runs from the west of the city to the I-15 from the Las Vegas Beltway, a large road on the outskirts of the city.
Driving to Las Vegas Airport should not take too long, as it is in the city, however, all roads can get busy at peak traffic hours. Sufficient time will be needed to find a parking space as well, in one of the airport parking areas, of which there are short-term, long-term and economy parking options. Passengers will find two terminal buildings at Las Vegas Airport. Terminal 1 currently handles the majority of airport flights, and is a large building with four concourses named A, B, C and D. The Concourses C and D are connected to the centralized check-in and baggage reclaim areas by people movers, as they are satellite concourses. International and charter flights depart from Terminal 2, that has eight gates (T2-1 through T2-8). Four of the gates are used for international flights. In June 2012, Las Vegas Airport will have a new terminal building for international flights and the scheduled airline companies of the airport. Terminal 3 could replace Terminal 2, and will have all facilities required by airport passengers, including an excellent variety of shops and restaurants, Wi-Fi connections, 32 curb-side check-in positions, 130 check-in counters and 203 self-check-in kiosks. There will also be a new parking garage of 6,000 parking spaces.
The current terminals of Las Vegas Airport are well equipped for the needs of their passengers as well, with shopping, dining and banking services, free Wi-Fi and airport lounges that include a Presidents Club in Terminal 1, Concourse D and a USO lounge for American service members. There is a VIP lounge for passengers in Terminal 2 as well. There is even a small museum at the airport, that depicts the airline history of Las Vegas. It is free to visit, and open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to the usual airport facilities, Las Vegas Airport has over one thousand slot machines and more than 200 gambling machines, ensuring that passengers get an immediate feel for the excitement of Las Vegas! Information desks are available, and the terminals are accessible for disabled passengers.
Passengers can travel to Las Vegas Airport by bus or taxi, which would save on parking costs. The public buses travelling to the airport are Route #108, Route #109 and the Westcliff Airport Express. These are RTC Transit buses travelling from Downtown Las Vegas, the Bonneville Transit Centre, the South Strip Transfer Terminal and the Westcliff Transit Centre and Park and Ride. Additional private shuttles are offered by various companies for transport from Las Vegas hotels, and out-of-town buses travel from Lake Havasu City, Laughlin, Golden Valley, Bullhead City, Needles, St. George, Fort Mohave and Kingman. Taxis can be taken from all areas. There is currently no train station at Las Vegas airport, but in future the city’s monorail system could be extended to the airport terminals.
