Dave Gilbert is still in this, says Shaun Murphy on the BBC commentary.

But it's been Kyren Wilson's night.

    22:09 3 May

Did you know the tournament record for century breaks at The Crucible is 109? That record was set in 2022.

Despite Dave Gilbert's ton to round off tonight's action, we are still only on 57 at this year's event, so barring some near miraculous potting it's unlikely the record will be bettered.

A lot of the players have said the pockets are playing tight. They might just be right!

    Wilson 14-10 Gilbert

This break shows exactly what Dave Gllbert is made of.

Incredible bottle to round off with a ton. A magnificent 101. What a cheer he gets for that.

He could have thrown in the towel after losing five in a row and having some diabolical luck, which contributed to a rapid loss of form.

He'll sleep better for this. He's still alive in this year's tournament. He's reminded Kyren Wilson of his talents. But Wilson remains the big, big favourite.

  6. A crucial final framepublished at 21:55 3 May

    21:55 3 May

    Wilson 14-10 Gilbert

Dave Gilbert has not played great. He'll admit that. But he's had almost no luck - that can't be denied. A brilliant red gets him in but fortune doesn't favour the brave when he crashes into the pack. Nothing falls for him.

We're back into a safety battle.

Can Gilbert take this final frame? How much fight does he have left?

A 14-10 deficit is a big ask but 15-9 seems insurmountable.

All four semi-finalists will be mainly driven by the prestige of winning snooker's showpiece event. There is no bigger prize in snooker.

The financial rewards are, of course, a huge bonus.

A tidy 500k for the winner, and a not-too-shabby consolation for finishing second or losing in the last four.

    Wilson 14-9 Gilbert

Five in a row. At 9-9 it seemed like the topsy-turvy nature of this semi-final would continue.

Kyren Wilson had other ideas. He's not been at his best but has really kept the pressure on Dave Gilbert.

  10. A fabulous five for Wilson?published at 21:45 3 May

    21:45 3 May

    Wilson 13-9 Gilbert

Qualifier Dave Gilbert beat the reigning world champ Luca Brecel in round one. His form has got better and better since, until now. He's been imperious at times.

But you sense he simply must dig in and salvage something from the last two frames of the evening.

Ideally he'd take both of them and only trail 13-11. But this frame is very much in he balance. Wilson has a 16-point lead. There are four reds left and Gilbert's confidence is in tatters. Gilbert is fuming.

Two top-drawer pots by Kyren Wilson leave him on the verge of a fifth consecutive frame.

    Wilson 13-9 Gilbert

Lots of encouragement from the crowd for Dave Gilbert. Can that support lift him?

A missed red by Kyren Wilson leaves the door open. The 42-year-old desperately needs to restore some confidence and give Wilson something to think about.

A great long red into the yellow pocket keeps the break alive, but Gilbert misses a simple green next up. Can you believe it?

    Just a knock of 23.

    21:32 3 May

    Wilson 13-9 Gilbert

Dave Gilbert misses out again. He's spurned so many chances. Kyren Wilson finally makes his man pay and it is a four-frame lead.

A red long the rail potted by Wilson leaves Gilbert needing two snookers and he's had enough.

Four behind and two to play.

There's no better place to play snooker than the Crucible when it's going well, but no worse place when it's going badly, says 2005 world champion and 2015 runner-up Shaun Murphy.

"He's really suffering out there," Murphy says.

The frame goes beyond the 25-minute mark. Gilbert has another opportunity to prevent a three-frame from becoming a four-frame burst.

I thought putting your opponent in trouble so they miss a few times and concede the 4 points was the whole point of the game that we all call "snooker"? Also, I wouldn't take away the potential for great drama when a few snookers can turn a frame around.

    Wilson 12-9 Gilbert

More chances go begging for both men. The end result is Dave Gilbert is back at the table. He's 34 points behind, but he's missed a blue into the middle.

    It's a messy table.

  18. Patience is a virtuepublished at 21:19 3 May

    21:19 3 May

    Wilson 12-9 Gilbert

Nothing's going right for Dave Gilbert. A long missed red that he was nailing earlier in the match is just off target. Kyren Wilson is in no mood to go easy.

The Warrior smells blood. But he's making it trickier than he ought to at the moment. His positional play is not bang on.

He's missed a recovery yellow but left Gilbert nothing again. This is testing Gilbert's patience. You have to feel for him.

Given Shaun Murphy has just mentioned Westlife, there have been one or two questions in the press room wondering if he will end up on the piano (again) after this year's final.

The 2005 world champion, went through his repertoire of songs just over 12 months ago, displaying that he is a man of many talents.

If there were ever to be a reprised version of 'Snooker Loopy' or some new song celebrating the game, he would be a likely contender to front it.

    Here's some, admittedly grainy, proof.
