11 Asian Buffet Inspired Favourite Recipes (1)

This collection has it all – pork, beef, and chicken. Not listed in any particular order, this collection will prove to you, Dear Reader, that I am in love with bite-sized pieces of meat. I think that’s one of my favourite things about buffet-style main dishes. Oh, and of course, the sauce. I’m all about the sauce!

First up is my Peking Pork Chops; these pork chops are super thin, which allow them to cook quite quickly, while preventing them from drying out. There’s nothing worse that dry pork! The sauce is thick and spicy. Combining classic Asian condiments like oyster sauce, chili sauce, and hoisin sauce, this pork dish is sure to be one of your favourites!

30 Minute Mongolian Beef takes very little time to make and is garlicky, gingery, crispy, sweet, and salty. This recipe really does have it all!

After those two spicy recipes, we should cool it down a little bit with this Chinese Buffet Style Lemon Chicken. I love the fresh, lemony flavour of this dish. It’s a little sweet, the sauce is thick and shiny, and the chicken is very moist with a light and crispy exterior. So good!

Korean Pork Bulgogi is spicy! You can control the spice level by increasing or decreasing the chili flakes and the whole dried red chilies. Pan seared in batches, this recipe comes together easily and quickly and uses a cheap cut of pork.

Most likely my favourite recipe in this collection is Orange Ginger Garlic Beef. I love the refreshing and vibrant taste of the orange paired with the fresh garlic and ginger. Oh, and the sauce is thick and sweet, thanks to the addition of the molasses! Serve this dish with plain steamed rice for a complete meal.

One of my favourite take out chicken dishes is Sweet and Spicy Sesame Chicken. Sesame seeds are featured in many of my dishes, but is surely a major player in this dish. Chunks of chicken breasts are tossed in cornstarch and then pan fried to lock in the moisture. The chicken is then cooked in a glistening, thick, sesame sauce.

Shanghai Style Braised Chili Pork embraces a cooking method not usually associated with meat – simmering in water. Don’t worry, the water has sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce, which together, tenderizes and flavours the pork. Once the water evaporates, the pork browns up and becomes delightfully tender and flavourful!

The second most popular meat dish at Lord Byron’s Kitchen is the 30 Minute Ginger Beef. This dish has thin cuts of inexpensive been that has been fried until crispy and then coated in a ginger garlic sauce.

Made popular by Kentucky Fried Chicken, I decided to come up with a spicy version; Szechuan Popcorn Chicken is not deep fried like KFC chicken, but is coated in a spicy sauce and loaded with fresh green onions and sesame seeds. This dish makes me want to grab my chopsticks and curl up on the couch with my favourite Netflix show. It’s the ultimate in comfort food.

The most popular recipe of all time at Lord Byron’s Kitchen is the Honey Garlic Pork Bites. The pork is baked until tender in a honey garlic sauce that has just a little bit of spiciness. This recipe takes some time, but don’t rush things. All good things in life are worth waiting for!

The last recipe in my 11 Asian Buffet Inspired Favourite Recipes is my Teriyaki Steak Skewers. This dish employs a homemade teriyaki sauce, which is absolutely delicious. It uses thin cuts of cheap beef, and is made right in a stove-top grill pan. Oh, and it’s on a stick! Food on a stick is always more fun to eat!

Whether you like to dine in or take out, 11 Asian Buffet Inspired Favourite Recipes has all of the classics covered. Making these dishes at home allows you to adapt the flavours to suit your personal tastes and preferences, and also allows you to keep your money, because let’s face it, Dear Reader, ordering food from a takeout menu isn’t always very cheap!
